Walter Suarez, 49, of Miami, is accused of stealing mail out of people’s mailboxes across the Treasure Coast.

Mail thieves are using unsecured or unaccounted for master keys that U.S. Postal Service employees use to access the mail.

While mail theft skyrocketed over the past five years, the federal officers tasked with reducing those crimes were sidelined.

The crooks took more than $22,000. She stopped payment on the other checks.

Four co-conspirators have been sentenced to collectively serve 11 years in federal prison and pay more than $135,000 in restitution.
