A 60MW solar photovoltaic (PV) power plant in southwestern Kampong Chhnang province, part of the 100MW National Solar Park, was connected to the national grid on November 11, in a move to provide the people with more power resources, reported the Asian Development Bank (ADB).

A partnership between ADB and Electricite du Cambodge to develop a National Solar Park reached a milestone with the park’s first 60 MW solar photovoltaic power generation plant connecting to the national grid.

ADB will certainly assist EDC conduct a nationwide study on possibilities for added solar power capacity in mix with a Battery Energy Storage System (BESS), to be implemented from this year via 2030. ADB will certainly likewise assist EDC in bidding out a 100-MW pilot project recognized under the research to the economic sector.

The ADB has signed a transaction advisory service mandate with utility Électricité du Cambodge to support the development of 2GW of solar power in Cambodia.
