Prachanda officially broke ties with the Nepali Congress to form a new alliance with the Communist Party of Nepal. He will need at least 138 votes in the 275-member House of Representatives to win the vote of confidence.

Nepal Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal Prachanda will visit Qatar later this week on his first official foreign trip since assuming office two months ago. Prachanda will be leading a Nepalese delegation to Doha where he will participate in the fifth conference of the Least Developed Countries LDC, according to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
