The Court said there was no evidence to allow proceedings to continue against Virupakshappa and he cannot be prosecuted only because he is the father of co-accused Prashanth Madal.

Bengaluru, Dec 21 (PTI) The High Court of Karnataka has quashed the bribery case pending against former BJP MLA from Channagiri, Madal Virupakshappa.

A single bench says that prima facie it is the MLA’s son, accused of taking a Rs 40 lakh bribe, who has to face trial.

While the Congress remained singularly focused on the target right from the start, the BJP was busy digging its own grave, hurtling from one misadventure to another.
