BJP district vaccination in-charge Vikas Jain Nakhrali told that the campaign to administer the free precautionary (booster) doses was launched across the district on Wednesday to encourage citizens to get vaccinated and ensure protection against Covid-19.

According to district immunisation officer Dr Tarun Gupta, “All adults of the city are eligible for the free precautionary dose and there are over 22-24 lakh people in the city whose doses are pending.”

Covid-19 booster shot: So far, less than 1 per cent of the target population of 77 crore in the 18-59 age group have been administered the precaution dose. The drive, aimed at boosting the uptake of Covid precaution doses, will be held as part of the governments Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav to celebrate the 75th anniversary of Indias Independence.

Health officials achieved the target of second dose vaccination in December 2021 and, following the 6-month gap guideline, all above 18 years are eligible for precautionary dose.
