LAHORE: The PPP Central Punjab organization, including President Qamar Zaman Kaira, General Secretary Chaudhry Manzur Ahmed and Information Secretary Hasan Murtaza Friday resigned from their offices.
The organization resigned a day after Khushab by-polls in which the PPP candidate could not even bag 500 votes. PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari has accepted the resignations. The current political situation came under discussion in the meeting chaired by Bilawal.
PPP Secretary General Nayyar Hussain Bukhari, President PPP Punjab Qamar Zaman Kaira, General Secretary Chaudhry Manzoor and Information Secretary Syed Hasan Murtaza attended the meeting.
The top office-bearers of PPP Central Punjab tendered their resignations from their posts to pave way for election of a new leadership for the next three years. Chairman PPP Bilawal Bhutto Zardari appreciated the performance of the leadership of the central Punjab and said their loyalty with the party was unforgettable.

ISLAMABAD/LAHORE: A day after the Prime Minister secured a vote of confidence from the National Assembly, the opposition leadership held separate high-level meetings, one among themselves, while another with a major coalition government ally to shore up support for the Pakistan Democratic Movement (PDM) candidate as Senate chairman, which was ultimately fruitless.
The Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) leadership met in Islamabad on Sunday and decided on fielding Miftah Ismail as a candidate for the NA-249 constituency of Karachi after PTI’s Faisal Vawda resigned, Maryam Nawaz announced following the meeting.

GUJRAT: Senior serving and retired officers of administration and police have expressed their reservations at the action the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) has taken against some government officials in the wake of Daska NA-75 by-polls fiasco, saying it seems to be “against the norms of justice”.
Declaring the by-poll null and void, the ECP ordered the establishment division to suspend Sialkot deputy commissioner (DC), district police officer (DPO) and Daska assistant commissioner (AC) from service. It also ordered the Punjab government to transfer the Gujranwala commissioner and regional police officer (RPO), besides suspending two deputy superintendents of police (DSPs).
