primary voters. down the, aisle across the spectrum, they are going to be all in for trump if he gets the nominee. absolutely no illusions about that. matthew, what is your feeling about this? given that room, even. i m so happy you played the focus group after that scene in town hall. eight people in that room. only one of them raised their hands said they were ready to vote for donald trump. right now, i think there is a notion in new hampshire of come, one come all. you have named tim scott, ron desantis, mike pence, these are candidates that have not even yet announced. they ve gotta get in the race, they ve got the start running. i think there is also, in the republican circles, a notion of everyone s welcome to run. when it comes time to voting, when i look at iowa gets cold, new hampshire gets gold, if you are not viable, it s not in your interest to stay in this race. we saw that happen in 2016. there s a snakebite effect. people understand that.
is also evidence it s way too soon for republicans, conservatives, and everyone else to throw on the towel and give up, to resign themselves to another trump win, another republican primary, go out and make the argument against him. during that town hall, while we were doing our show the other night, i talked to my dear friend rachel meadow. we were talking about this very topic, which is in that democracy requires making arguments to people, persuading people, communicating with them, mobilizing them. there is an argument to make the republican primary voters that donald trump is stuck in the past, he s a loser who can t move on from his loss and his lie about the 2020 election. the data shows, there is a receptive audience for that. we also heard it from several republican primary voters convene after the town hall. i think it s time to move on
