JOB DESCRIPTION：
Reception
· Greets visitors/clients and directs them to appropriate program /service staff; · Operates the main switchboard, screens, takes messages and directs calls to appropriate program/ service staff, and provides general information to clients and the public;
· Provides information on agency programs/services; schedules and reschedules client appointments; handles cancellations, and keeps accurate intake records;
· Works with volunteers and provides on-going orientation for volunteer receptionists;
· Prepares interoffice courier waybills and mail for delivery to other centres/ locations;
· Sorts and routes incoming mail, faxes and other materials;
· Prepares and maintains facility and program materials and information

The National Endowment for Democracy (NED), a congressionally funded, private, nonprofit grant-making organization that works to support freedom around the world, seeks a Program Assistant to provide programmatic and administrative support to the Fellowships Program, based at NED’s International Forum for Democratic Studies, in Washington, D.C. This is a non-exempt level position.
Position Summary:
The Program Assistant shoulders a wide range of administrative, logistical, financial, programmatic, and other responsibilities in support of NED’s Fellowships Program, an international exchange program that hosts Reagan-Fascell Democracy Fellows, Visiting Fellows, and Hurford Youth Fellows.
Responsibilities:
Contributes to the cultural, intellectual, and collegial life of the international exchange program;

EXETER â The American Independence Museum will host a virtual screening of the film Uprooted: Heartache and Hope in New Hampshire on Thurs., May 20, from 6:00-7:00 p.m. Uprooted is a thirty-minute documentary based on interviews collected during New Hampshire Humanities’ Fences & Neighbors initiative on immigration.

Like many people in the area, the military brought Bette LaPenta to Onslow County. But not in the typical way - it was her sister who was married to a Marine in Jacksonville and LaPenta was fleeing an abusive marriage in 1977.
“I ran away from home with four babies and that’s what brought me down here,” LaPenta said.
Originally from Massachusetts, LaPenta grew up a natural born caregiver, taking care of her sickly grandmother and protecting her mother whenever she had seizures from the time she was in grade school. It was her childhood dream to become a nurse, but college was too expensive. So she asked permission to join the Navy - but her father, a sailor in WWII, would not allow it.“I couldn’t go to college and I couldn’t join the Navy so I got married,” LaPenta said.
