Anil Pawar allegedly raped a 17-year-old girl who had eloped with her boyfriend at a ‘shelter home’ over a week in Pune.

The incident triggered a protest by local residents at a police outpost on Thursday with people demanding stringent action against the arrested suspects.

According to the FIR, in February 2020, the estranged husband came to his father in law's house in Pune and allegedly forcibly took the victim to a secluded location. Thereupon, her husband and his five friends took turns to rape her, the FIR states.

A 17-year-old girl hailing from Uttar Pradesh has told the Pune police she was raped on several occasions by her father, uncle and molested by grandfather, an officer said on Thursday.

An FIR had been registered against the 11-year-old girls father, brother, grandfather and maternal uncle in Bundgarden Police Station, Pune police said.

The Pune police registered a case under section 376 (rape) and 313 (causing miscarriage without woman's consent) of the IPC against Mr Kuchik based on a complaint lodged by the woman.

According to the police, the victim had gone to a temple with her brother in law near Mauje Somatane village.

The Bombay High Court has refused to reduce the life sentence of three men from Pune, who were convicted in the Hinjewadi rape case of 2010.
