Qatar Airways to become first global airline to offer passengers zero-touch in-flight entertainment

Qatar’s national carrier, Qatar Airways (QA)has announced that it will soon become the first global airline to offer passengers 100 percent zero-touch technology for its award-winning Oryx One in-flight entertainment system across the A350 fleet. This adds to the safety measures the airline has earlier implemented against COVID-19. Introduced in partnership with Thales AVANT IFE system, the zero-touch tech will allow A350 passengers to pair their personal electronic devices (PEDs) with their seat-back IFE screen by connecting to ‘Oryxcomms’ Wi-Fi and simply scanning a QR code displayed on the screen. They can then use their PEDs to navigate and enjoy more than 4,000 options on offer through the airline’s award-winning Oryx One in-flight entertainment system.

Qatar Airways expands Africa network with increased frequencies

Qatar Airways Cargo takes delivery of three new Boeing 777 freighters

Qatar Airways (QA) Cargo, the world’s leading air cargo carrier, has welcomed three brand new Boeing 777 freighters to its fleet. With the delivery of the new freighters yesterday, QA Cargo now has a total freighter fleet count of 30 freighters. These include two Boeing 747 freighters, 24 Boeing 777 Freighters and four Airbus A330 freighters. The brand new freighters will be used for QA Cargo’s long haul scheduled routes. Additionally, they will serve as cargo charters, supporting global trade and the movement of time and temperature-sensitive goods. QA Group Chief Executive, Akbar Al Baker, commented, “With the arrival of these new freighters, we are injecting much-needed capacity in the market helping support global supply chains at a critical time during the pandemic.
