Gold prices edged up on Thursday, as investors awaited developments in the drawn-out debt ceiling negotiations in Washington, with gains in bullion capped by the US dollar rising to an over two-month high. Spot gold rose 0.2% to $1 961.55 per ounce by 09:47 GMT. US gold futures were steady at $1 964.10.

Spot gold fell 0.2% at $1,984.89 per ounce by 1032 GMT, while U.S. gold futures also slipped 0.2% at $1,995.20.

Spot gold fell 0.2% to $2,035.49 per ounce by 0935 GMT, with prices holding just below last session’s highs since March 9. U.S. gold futures fell 0.3% to $2,049.40.
