Phase 1a study of first hormone-free male pill completes enrollment

DR MICHAEL MOSLEY: Its been a good year for medical advances, from new drugs for Alzheimers to new uses for artificial intelligence such as reading cancer scans.

The pill, YCT-529, is a hormone-free drug, unlike the female pill, and preclinical studies showed it was “99 per cent effective and 100 per cent reversible with no side effects”.

UK trials hormone-free male pill, YCT-529, blocking vitamin A for contraception. Promising, reversible, and side-effect-free; trial ends June 2024.

Unlike the female pill, YCT-529 is hormone-free and prevents sperm production by blocking access to vitamin A.

YCT-529, a hormone-free male birth control pill by YourChoice Therapeutics, shows promise in preclinical studies, reducing sperm count without hormonal effects.
