States. its now at 13 states. is this cause for concern at this point? >> well, i dont think its cause for concern and i can tell you a couple things. one, its likely more states will trigger these low levels of radiation higher than normal. but certainly low in terms of potential consequences on human health. so i think were likely to see the number of states increase. we also know from looking at previous accidents, such as chernobyl, that you do get this radioactivity, you get the sort of plu...

Health. so i think were likely to see the number of states increase. we also know from looking at previous accidents, such as chernobyl, that you do get this radioactivity, you get the sort of plume as people have been referring to it, and it will circumnavigate the globe. thats what happened with the radioactive particles from chernobyl. as a result, you will get radioactive increases, radioactivity increases in many places around the world. if you measure that back from 1986, what we hear from...

Radioactivity, you get the sort of plume, and it will circumnavigate the globe. thats what happened with the radioactive particles from chernobyl. as a result, you will get radioactive increases, radioactivity increases in many places around the world. if you measure that back from 1986, what we hear from scientists who measured at the time was the total amount of radiation was about 1/10th of a chest, ray. so i think were likely to see a number of states get worse but a low level of radiation. ...

Water in 13 states here in america. earlier when this thing first began, there was talk about its going to hit some of the western states. its now at 13 states. how much cause, i mean, is this cause for concern at this point? >> well, i dont think its cause for concern and i can tell you a couple things. one, its likely more states will trigger these low levels of radiation higher than normal. but certainly low in terms of potential consequences on human health. so i think were likely to see the...

>> what do i mean by that? im concerned that the radiation levels are rising to a point where they cannot get workers close enough to be able to reduce that radiation. and if the workers cant get there to get enough water on that nuclear waste pond, cant get enough water in the nuclear fuel reactors, then the radiation will continue to increase which means the workers have to pull back. over and over again this cycle repeats itself. if that culminates, that means the workers wont have any access...

With its spent fuel pond but only one helicopter able to go back, zero or one helicopter able to go by because of radiation readings. so, instead, the helicopters focused on the reactor pool at reactor number three. so, again, there is this problem. you have to solve the problem. if you dont solve the problem, the radioactivity increases and able to do less about it going forward. that is the dilemma japanese officials face right now. >> thank you for the perspective. in a few minutes jim will c...
