South Cumbria Magistrates Court at Barrow. A TEENAGER has been charged with drink driving, driving without due care and attention and failing to stop after an accident. Max William Nickson is said to have also failed to report an accident in a string of charges said to have been committed on Rampside Road and Roa Island Road in Barrow on December 31. The 18-year-old, of Meadowland Avenue in Barrow, is due to appear at South Cumbria Magistrates’ Court on Monday.

A GAS company with a site in Barrow have announced that 27 jobs are at risk of redundancy due to extraordinary challenges faced during the coronavirus pandemic. Spirit Energy, based on Rampside Road in Roose, supply gas throughout Morecambe Bay and have started a consultation process to work out how to become more cost-effective, which may potentially lead to job losses, the company have said. A Spirit Energy spokesman said: “Along with many other industries, the oil and gas sector faces extraordinary challenges at the moment. As part of our work to continue supplying gas from Morecambe Bay we have looked at what we can control, including our cost base – as a gas field which is more than 35 years old, it’s crucial that our operations are as cost-effective as possible.
