The WKU Hilltoppers were ousted in the 2023 Conference USA Tournament, 7-1, by Middle Tennessee in Thursday evening’s elimination game in the quarterfinals.

The Western Kentucky Hilltoppers survive the single-elimination round in the second game of the 2023 Conference USA Softball Tournament, as they defeated FIU, 2-1, in Ruston, Louisiana.

Now in a win-or-go-home-game, the Hilltoppers are set for [6] Middle Tennessee Thursday evening at 7 p.m. CT at the Dr. Billy Bundrick Field in Ruston.

The Hilltoppers are preparing for the Conference USA Softball Tournament next weekend in Ruston, hosted by La Tech. The Tops’ seeding will be announced tomorrow after all the regular-season games are completed.

To cap off the final regular season series and homestand, the WKU Hilltopper Softball team walked off Louisiana Tech in the bottom of the seventh inning, 7-6, to take the series opener.

The 7-3 loss recorded a five-strikeout outing for Katie Gardner and Kelsie Houchens and Randi Drinnon’s third home run of the season.

The two teams wrapped up game one from the third inning on Friday, with a 7-2 UTSA final, as they came back for a doubleheader and the Hilltoppers came up victorious in a 9-2 win.

As the Hilltopper defense held the No. 19 Indiana Hoosiers to their lowest runs in nine games, WKU fell 0-3 to Indiana in front of a good midweek crowd at the WKU Softball Complex.

The WKU Hilltoppers dropped games two and three against the Charlotte 49er at the WKU Softball Complex, giving the 49ers the 2-1 series win.
