In a heart-wrenching case that exemplifies the dire plight faced by religious minorities in Pakistan, Masheel Rasheed, a 16-year-old Christian girl, was abducted, subjected to sexual assault, forcibly converted to Islam, and married to Abdul Sattar, her abductor.

Masheel Rasheed was also sexually abused by her abductors. The father had tried to report the incident to the police, but received no support. Now he and his daughter live in hiding because they fear reprisals from Muslim extremists.
