The fundraiser benefits the Litchfield Food Bank Building Fund.

Following approval from residents at the Town Meeting on Saturday, town officials are pursuing a contract with the Kennebec Valley Humane Society in Augusta instead of using a retrofitted box trailer in Litchfield.

Residents collected 224 signatures — 173 are required — to have the question included June 18 on the Town Meeting warrant.

The select board has yet to decide if they will provide an option on the warrant to use the Kennebec Valley Humane Society as an alternative to the town's shelter.
