Buzdar, Dawood decide to set up international expo center in Punjab

LAHORE (Dunya News) – Punjab Chief Minister Sardar Usman Buzdar and Adviser to Prime Minister for Commerce and Investment Abdul Razzaq Dawood in a meeting here Sunday principally decided to set up a state-of-the-art International Expo Center in Punjab.
The chief minister directed the concerned departments to take all necessary steps in this regard at the earliest. The matters of promotion of Cooperative Agricultural Farming in Punjab also came under discussion during the meeting. The meeting also reviewed the proposal of setting up of Plug & Play Centre in Multan for the stitching industry.
Prime Minister Imran Khan will be the first Head of Government to visit Sri Lanka after President Gotabaya Rajapaksa and Prime Minister Mahinda Rajapaksa assumed office last year. The Prime Minister will visit Sri Lanka on February 23 and 24.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs issued a statement confirming the visit of the Prime Minister saying that bilateral talks would cover issues of trade and investment, health and education, agriculture and science and technology, defence and security, and culture and tourism. Key regional and international issues would also be discussed.
ALL major parties including the PTI, PML-N and PPP have announced their candidates for the Senate elections scheduled for March 3. Many of the names in the final list are expected ones. The PTI has nominated finance adviser Hafeez Sheikh because he needs to be elected in order to run the ministry with full powers and also preside over the National Finance Commission. Dr Sania Nishtar’s nomination was also to be expected. Prime Minister Imran Khan has praised her work as head of the government’s flagship Ehsaas programme. The PML-N has fielded senior people like Pervaiz Rashid and Mushahidullah Khan though the party’s chairman Raja Zafarul Haq will be retiring and not returning to the upper house. The PPP has also chosen to give tickets to key members like Sherry Rehman and Farhatullah Babar. Prominent among those from the PTI who have not got a Senate ticket are parliamentary affairs’ adviser Babar Awan, commerce adviser Razzaq Dawood and accountability adviser Shahzad Akbar.

Pakistan will not allow import of cotton from India despite shortfall: Razzaq Dawood
ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) - Abdul Razzaq Dawood, Advisor to the PM for Commerce has said that Pakistan will not allow import of cotton from India to bridge shortfall.
He said people from the industry had been demanding to make changes in duties and taxes in textile sector. However, he ruled out any changes in duties and import of cotton from India to bridge shortfall.
Instead, cotton will be imported from Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan as both are new trade markets for Pakistan.
