The iRecorder screen recorder app began recording Android users without their knowledge and sending it to the developer a year after it debuted — and scams like this aren’t uncommon.

The app is said to be recording one-minute audio through the smartphone's microphone. If you think that an app you've downloaded is safe, you might want to think again once it gets an update.

IRecorder was removed with 50,000 downloads already in the Google Play Store. A Google Play Store application recorded a minute of the users' screen every 15 minutes and forwarded it to the developers' servers through an encrypted link.
