A police cordon has been extended at the scene of a gas explosion that killed a four-year-old girl because of fears over another leak in the street, emergency crews said today.

A beautiful four-year-old girl who was tragically found dead in the rubble of a destroyed house after a devastating blast yesterday has been named locally.

People living on Galpins Road in Thornton Heath, near Croydon, said they had reported a strong smell of gas in the two weeks before the explosion at around 7am this morning.
