The World From Here
The roofers left a man up on the roof. I didn’t know it right away. I stood on the front step and waved goodbye as they drove off. Happy to see them go. Noisy. Intrusive. But finally gone. Their van, white with red letters, “Reliable Roofing,” needed work. It was loud. The man on the roof could not have missed it starting up and leaving, but he didn’t call out to them to wait.
