Lowell’s long-sought quest for an outdoor recreational resource has finally been signed, sealed, and delivered. With the purchase by Mass Audubon now completed, Rollie’s Christmas Tree Farm will now remain Lowell’s largest parcel of open space, in perpetuity.

The area will be restored to a forest with trails and will also have a sustainable vegetable farm, an educational center and a community garden.

LOWELL — After the purchase of the land by Mass Audubon was finalized just after Christmas, Rollie's Christmas Tree Farm will now serve as a wildlife sanctuary, a community farm and a new network of trails as the largest piece of open space remaining in Lowell.
