TROY – FBI and State Police cyber squads are investigating a malware attack that has paralyzed Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute s computers systems since last week.
Since it was detected on Friday, the cyberattack has disrupted nearly all of the world-famous engineering and research school’s operations, officials confirmed. There was an attack. They took the systems offline. They re slowly going through it, said faculty members who spoke Tuesday about the situation but only with a guarantee of no attribution. It s day five. We re still offline.

TROY - Mayor Patrick Madden is in quarantine after testing positive for coronavirus.
Madden said in a tweet Sunday afternoon that he got tested early last week after experiencing mild symptoms. John Salka, Madden s spokesman, said Madden learned he was positive for the disease on Tuesday, Dec. 22. Madden did not make his diagnosis public because no other city employees were required to get tested, Salka said.
