Kansas City health professionals met for a workshop over the weekend in Overland Park to get trained on a new psychotherapy method, Accelerated Resolution Therapy, which helps treat PTSD, trauma, anxiety, phobias and other mental health conditions.

Approximately 8 percent of the population is diagnosed with post-traumatic stress disorder, said Rollin Rhodes, a licensed clinical psychologist who practices in Hardin County. In Hardin County, that percentage would equal 8,443 people with PTSD and 357,440 for Kentucky, he said.
