The blaze, named the Rices fire, is in Nevada County just 70 miles northeast of Sacramento, according to the National Interagency Fire Center.

Firefighters held the Rices Fire in Nevada County to just over 900 acres, officials said. 13 firefighters have been reported injured since the blaze began.

The Rices Fire burning northwest of Grass Valley is uncontained. It is sending smoke toward the Hwy. 395 corridor.
