Snow removal in Carson City continues to be heightened as relentless storms pile up the berms and test the patience of people living in less-trafficked neighborhood streets.

The Carson City School District and Carson High School were pleased to commemorate Sept. 11 this past weekend with the assistance of Troop 341 and an Eagle Scout Project. Chandler Ricks, an eleventh graders at Sierra Lutheran High School, and his troop cleaned and repaired the 9/11 Memorial just outside the main entrance of Carson High.

Carson City Fire Department responded Tuesday night to a fire at the Carson City landfill off of Flint Drive across from Highway 50 East. It is the second fire at the city dump in a week.

This past weekend, Carson City was inundated with a hail and rain storm that caused flooding in several neighborhoods around town. Calls of flooded streets, storm drains backing up, and even three-foot-high geysers shooting out of manholes were coming in one right after another.

With a relentless series of storms pummeling the Sierra, Carson City and surrounding counties through the first half of January, theres the takeaways and lessons learned when preparing for the next round of atmospheric river storms.

The Carson City Board of Supervisors heard a presentation Thursday regarding a proposal to increase landfill costs both for in-county and out-of-county users.
