Fifteen months after Putnam County voters approved a $300 million bond referendum to revamp aging schools, the first phase of the 10-year project is ready to start. Two elementary schools are in the preconstruction phase, and one high school is set to undergo upgrades.

Wawa originated in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania and began its expansion along the East Coast. Construction in Palatka is taking place on the corner of State Road 19 and State Road 100 and is partially completed. It is across the street from a Circle K gas station.

The 2023 Florida School Accountability Reports were released this week, showing most Putnam County schools – and the district itself – maintained the same grades they received in 2022.
