INDIAN SHORES â The town is adding parking fees for the 14 spaces at Town Square Nature Park at 191st Street and Gulf Boulevard.
The town council on April 13 voted unanimously 5-0 to add a meter to charge $2.50 an hour for the spaces at the park, which offers a signature boardwalk and fishing, picnic areas, and restrooms. Parking is currently free.
Town administrator Bonnie Dhonau said the move would generate $35 an hour in revenue at full capacity. The cost of the new meter is $7,063 and it would take just over 200 full lot hours to recover the cost.
âMost of the people who use these facilities are not residents of Indian Shores,â said Mayor Patrick Soranno.
INDIAN SHORES â For the first time since last March, the Indian Shores Town Council meeting took place completely in person at Town Hall on Feb. 9 rather than in a Zoom or hybrid meeting. Not only was the in-person setting a plus â although participants were masked and socially distanced â but also, police department promotions and the approval of the monument arch rendering contributed to the uplifting tone of the meeting.
âThings are looking up,â Mayor Patrick Soranno said as many attendees greeted one another with elbow-bumps. âItâs great to see people.â
Police Chief Rick Swann presented two officers, Shane Tindall and Jason Hicks, for promotion. âMy goal is to build from within,â said the chief.
