Elmira River Sharks hockey is a large revenue-generator at the First Arena, but its also costly, despite this the IDA is confident that the First Arena can use its versatility to generate more funds

Donations were collected from people attending the game, and from people just passing by.  There were different reasons for donating, but they all agree, its a cause they want to get behind.

Margeson said the vision is to stabilize the facility and bring it back functionally, so it can be sold in the future. He said while the Arena may not be turning a profit, people coming to hockey game

First Arena was packed on Saturday for an afternoon of free skating.  

The Chemung County IDA will retain ownership of the beleaguered arena, and set up a management team that will handle all finances and events.
