The Duneland School Corporation community is mourning the death of eighth grade English teacher Lauren Thompson, who died in a six-vehicle wreck Tuesday evening in Portage that police said was likely caused by a speeding SUV.

Noah Gibson, 20, of Portage, was taken to the hospital for medical evaluation before he was booked into the Porter County Jail, police said.

The Portage community is mourning the death of a Portage High School student killed in a Sunday car crash on Stagecoach Road.
