San Francisco-based First Republic Bank could be placed under receivership by federal authorities, Reuters reported on Friday. The bank had to be propped up by other banks on March 16.

First Republic Bank was on Thursday propped up by a group of 11 other banks in a bid to stem the contagion from SVBs collapse, amid fears that both banks were worryingly similar.

First Republic Bank - known as the bank for the uber wealthy - showered rich clients with lavish perks before stocks plunged 65 percent amid SVB Financial Groups downfall.
