Upon reaching Melvindale, the man had simply driven as far as he could and ditched the car and took off on foot.

Despite being off-duty and ready to go to sleep, Melvindale Police Officer Mohamed Hachem jumped into action when he heard someone in his neighborhood was in distress. 

“He went in there knowing he could suffer great bodily harm,” Robert Kennaley said of the police officer.

The teenagers who were shot were not a part of the feuding parties. They were there to watch.

When Mohammed Hacham is at home, his police radio is usually off, but Monday evening as he was about to take a nap before the midnight shift as a Melvindale Police officer, Hacham's radio was on.

An off-duty police officer in Melvindale heard his neighbors in a panic and jumped into action to save a little boy who was chocking on his food. And his heroic actions were all caught on camera.

A battle is brewing in Melvindale between Mayor Wheeler Marsee and police unions over pensions, staffing and officers’ pay.

Several members of the police department spoke at city council meeting Wednesday night. They say the pay isn't high enough to retain officers and they're struggling to cover shifts.
