Maxim Integrated teams up with Xailient to provide IoT face detection Maxim Integrated Products and Xailient, a company focused on artificial intelligence (AI) for the edge, have announced that Maxim’s MAX78000 neural-network microcontroller is able to detect and localise faces in video and images using Xailient’s proprietary Detectum neural network. Xailient’s neural network draws 250x lower power (at just 280 microJoules) than conventional embedded solu...

Companies team to provide lowest-power IoT person detection Maxim Integrated Products and Aizip Inc have announced that Maxim’s MAX78000 neural-network microcontroller detects people in an image utilising Aizip’s Visual Wake Words (VWW) model at only 0.7mJ of energy per inference. This is 100 times lower than conventional software solutions and the most economical and efficient IoT person-detection solution currently available. The low-power network offers longer operation for battery-power...
