The deadline for candidates to file was Feb. 5 at 4:30 p.m., said Kristen Krenzer, the town s public relations and FOIA coordinator. For mayor, incumbent Kenneth L. Branner Jr. is being challenged by Joseph D. Pontak Sr. for a two-year term. For three seats on the Town Council, the candidates are incumbents Aaron T. Blythe, Andrew Chas and James Royston, and the challengers are Ernest F. Hargett Jr., Robert Muniz, Malika Spruill and Tynesia Stewart. The terms are for two years.
