Crews were on scene Thursday afternoon for remediation of a chemical spill that occurred earlier this week in the Robstown area.

City manager Peter Zanoni announced Brandon Wade as the finalist for the position of fire chief on Friday morning.

The new chief will succeed Robert Rocha, who served in the department for 11 years and retired in January.

Candidates from Dallas, Houston, Austin and CCFD are in town to interview for the job.

The last round of interviews is today at the American Bank Center then from 5:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m., a meet-and-greet with the community will begin in the Rotunda Ballroom at the Selena Auditorium.

Houston Fire Department Chief Sam Pena has been confirmed as one of the finalists for the same position in Corpus Christi, Texas, according to a release.

The candidates have been narrowed down, and they will be interviewed in person next week.
