Baylor unveils two statues honoring the university's first Black graduates

On Tuesday, Baylor University dedicated two new statues on its campus to the university’s first two Black graduates, the late Rev. Robert L. Gilbert, and Mrs. Barbara A. Walker. Dax Duncan, with the Baylor University Journalism Partnership with KWBU, covered the event.

On April 4, 2023, the landscape of the Baylor University campus will change. On that day, the University will dedicate two statues commemorating the late Rev. Robert L. Gilbert and Mrs. Barbara A. Walker – the first Black students to earn their undergraduate degrees from the University.

Election Day is one month away on Tuesday, Nov. 8, providing an opportunity for us to exercise one of our most important privileges and rights as Americans.
