San Francisco: Well, tax season has come and gone, and just how many citizens did the IRS mow down with AR-15s? Zero. Do you remember when conservative media and some GOP members were warning us that the additional 87,000 agents would be coming to get us? Turns out that many of them are office personnel, and in many cases are answering phones to actually help people with tax problems.

White Plains, N.Y.: Last week, three children and three adults were killed at a Christian school in Nashville. Every year, nearly 4,000 children are shot and killed and 15,000 more are injured in the United States. Firearms are now the leading cause of death of American children and teens.

Brooklyn: When you visit Coney Island, you don’t feel the city. You can still see it but it’s a different rhythm. We share Long Island and Staten Island waters, beautiful beaches and, unfortunately, the Republican red wave.

Washington: Re “Amtrak proves Amtrak wrong” (editorial, March 29): The work that Amtrak is doing at night and on weekends in the 110-year-old North River Tunnel is only maintenance in one section designed to keep the tunnel running and immediately reduce delays. It is not the full rehabilitation of the tunnel, so it lasts another century, that is necessary as part of the full Hudson Tunnel Project under the Gateway Program.
