Rocket Slide News Today

Union Park's Rocket Slide has been a landmark in Des Moines since 1971. After years of safety hazards and repairs, the slide will be blasting off, safely, once again.

Des Moines City Council on Monday approved starting a nearly $582,000 project to rejuvenate the 52-year-old Union Park rocket slide.

The work will ensure more generations of local kids will be able to enjoy the rocket slide at Union Park.

Des Moines police are investigating who started the fire.
