Gladstone man escapes jail time after threatening violence

Premium Content Subscriber only A man with an appalling 14-page criminal history escaped jail time after appearing in Gladstone Magistrates Court on Friday. The man, 39, who cannot be named for legal reasons, pleaded guilty to eight charges including contravening a domestic violence order, common assault and public nuisance. He appeared via video-link from the Capricornia Correctional Centre. Police prosecutor Tania Griffiths read the facts of the man’s offending to the court and Acting Magistrate Ron Muirhead. On Tuesday, March 2, about 4.31pm, police were tasked to attend Gladstone Airport in relation to a disturbance involving a male and female victim.

Way to ruin a birthday : Gladstone woman fined for rant

Premium Content Subscriber only A woman who swore at police repeatedly after they attended a loud birthday party, appeared in Gladstone Magistrates Court on Tuesday. Kimberly Nichole Morris, 33, pleaded guilty to committing a public nuisance and not complying with a noise abatement direction. Prosecutor Kelvin Boyd read the facts of Morris’ case to the court and Acting Magistrate Ron Muirhead. On April 2, about 10.30pm, police attended an address on Breslin St, Gladstone, in relation to a noise complaint. Police heard excessive noise, namely amplified music, from the house as well as loud voices from a gathering inside. Upon arrival, police heard several voices yelling “It’s the cops”, and as they approached the house Morris burst out and confronted them.

Fighter caught driving unlicensed

Premium Content Subscriber only Jyde Shaun Dwyer, 26, pleaded guilty driving unlicensed before Acting Magistrate Ron Muirhead. Prosecutor Kelvin Boyd read the facts of Dwyer’s case to the court, which commenced on January 1, 2021. On that date, Dwyer completed a six month licence disqualification and he was instructed by the court to reapply, however, failed to do so. Around 3pm on Tuesday, February 9 police from Coomera Road Policing Unit on the Gold Coast were conducting speeding enforcement on Gilston Rd, Nerang. Dwyer was detected speeding in a grey Volkswagen Amarok ute and was stopped for the offence. A roadside computer check confirmed Dwyer was unlicensed at the time and he had no lawful or emergency reason for driving.
