Rs 2000 banknotes are being exchanged and deposited at RBI's 19 issue offices since May 19, 2023.

In a relief to the public, the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) has decided to extend the deadline for the exchange of Rs 2,000 notes till October 7

The Reserve Bank Of India has said that the banknotes in Rs 2000 denomination will continue to be legal tender till September 30, which is the deadline by when people should exchange the notes.

The RBI said that individuals can deposit Rs 2,000 notes at their respective banks without any specific limit. Though you cant Rs 2,000 Notes on Amazon for cash on delivery from today, if your product is delivered through a third-party courier partner, their own policies will apply.  

Amazon however said that if your product is delivered through a third-party courier partner, their own policies around the acceptance of Rs 2,000 currency notes will apply.

In a written reply in the Lok Sabha, Minister of State for Finance Pankaj Chaudhary replied in negative to a question about whether there is a proposal to extend the deadline for the exchange of Rs 2000 in banks beyond September 30. "At present, this matter is not under consideration," the minister said.
