The flight which was scheduled to depart on Sunday at 20.05 from Tenerife and arrive in London at 00.20, had already been delayed several hours.

Video footage shows an easyJet pilot announcing the flight from Tenerife to London was called off because of the bathroom incident.

Passengers were left stranded in Tenerife after their holiday flight back to Gatwick was cancelled because someone ‘defecated’ on the toilet floor.

A spokesman for easyJet confirmed a flight was delayed overnight because one of its aircraft required additional cleaning.
