The D.C. attorney general is attempting to freeze the bank accounts of Casa Ruby, a LGBT nonprofit, after reports of financial mismanagement.

D.C. Attorney General Karl Racine has filed a motion to freeze all financial accounts associated with Casa Ruby.

An investigation conducted by The Washington Post revealed that a D.C.-based LGBTQ nonprofit has stopped providing critical services in the District.

Ruby Corado, the organization's founder, has vanished without the staff knowing how to contact her.

“I realized that I cannot fight the system,” Ruby Corado said. “The system is not meant to support people who are in need."

Ruby Corado has stepped down from her position as Executive Director of Casa Ruby following reports of the shelter losing it’s D.C. grant.

Casa Ruby, founded in 2012, provides a variety of services to LGBTQ+ youth in Washington, D.C.
