Vermont senator and former Democratic presidential hopeful Bernard Sanders knows about all the viral memes you have made of him and know that he s laughing with you.
For the uninitiated, Sanders was snapped at the inauguration of President Joe Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris looking much more casual than his fellow congressional attendees. Bernie Sanders Inauguration Day Photo: All You Need To Know About The Senator s Mittens
Bernie Sanders took the internet by storm with his picture from Inauguration day. While there are several memes made, here s the reason behind his mittens.
The United States President Joe Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris took the oath on January 20. While the oath was celebrated all over the country, the one thing that caught the internet s eyes was Bernie Sanders. During the inauguration, Bernie Sanders was seen sitting in a foldable chair, while wearing a green coat, a face mask and mittens. While there are hundreds of memes going around the internet, here s the reason behind Bernie Sanders mittens.
Sen. Bernie Sanders is feeling the Bern and the love after a photo of him sitting alone in his face mask, winter coat and patchwork mittens at Wednesday’s presidential inauguration went viral.
On Thursday’s episode of “Late Night With Seth Meyers,” Sanders said he was amused by the now-ubiquitous image, which has Twitter hailing the Vermont senator for his commitment to social distancing and utilitarian fashion choices.
Sanders couldn’t help but laugh when Meyers produced one of his favorite takes on the meme, placing Inauguration Bernie on a couch with the women of “Sex and the City,” and asked if Sanders had been tracking his social media fame.
The Vermont school teacher who made Bernie Sanders’ mittens, featured in the most recent viral meme, said she had to stop making them after the federal government taxed her too much.
“People have been contacting me thinking that they can get mittens, and actually they can’t. I don’t have any more, and I don’t have much of a mitten business anymore because it really wasn’t worth it,” Jen Ellis explained to Slate. “Independent crafters get really taken for a ride by the federal government. We get taxed to the nth degree, and it wasn’t really worth it pursuing that as a business, even as a side hustle.”
