Meredosia Village Board had a public hearing to discuss the north boat ramp reconstruction project.

Meredosia village board members have decided to have a community-wide cleanup this year.

Meredosia Village Board member Ernie Gregory said he would like to see a former church the village bought be turned into a community center. Mayor David Werries told him to form a committee to explore the idea.

A property at 128 N. Marion St. and eight wooded lots behind Meredosia-Chambersburg High School will be offered. The wooded lots will be sold as one, according to board member Ernie Gregory.

The board voted during its meeting this week to begin the legal preparations needed to put up for bid seven wooded lots behind Meredosia-Chambersburg High School and a property in the 100 block of North Marion Street. 

Police Chief Rusty Richard went over equipment upgrades that the police department requires. Richard said that the department is receiving three bullet-resistant vests and needs both radars in the cars.

The Illinois Fraternal Order of Police presented Valor Awards to four officers, and its Life Saving Award to a Pike County sheriffs deputy.
