The list of proposed maintenance projects includes additional steel siding underneath the grandstand, rebuilding the dairy barn’s northwest wall and repairs for the beef barn. Other projects include permanent gates at the east and Hwy 10 entrances, new floor and repairs for the Home and Hobbies building, old log building repairs and a new roof for the church.

The approved designations include $575,000 for Wadena, $231,250 for Menahga, $135,250 for Staples, $135,250 for Sebeka and $123,250 for Verndale. Nimrod and Aldrich can submit ideas for future consideration.

The board is discussing the county recorder position for possibly going through the appointment process. County recorder Soledad Henriksen does not intend to file for office.

Discussions have been happening for years to come up with a plan for the reconstruction of Hwy 10 through Wadena, and days to make changes to that plan are dwindling.

The cities infrastructure idea comes alongside many other infrastructure requests for sewer and water projects like the Folkestad East Addition and in Menahga, Sebeka and Verndale, ADA compliance work on county roads, fiber optic cable and HVAC systems.

County employees are not required to receive the vaccine, but if the policy remains in place following litigation, weekly testing and face coverings in the workplace will be required for employees who are not vaccinated. The first step in place is employees reporting their vaccination status to the human resources department.
