Grenfell tower refurbishment contractor Rydon has spent more than £19m to date replacing flammable cladding that it has put up on high-rise buildings.

Compensation claims were made on behalf of firefighters who tackled the blaze at Grenfell Tower.

The government has reset its approach to building safety with a bold new plan to protect leaseholders and make wealthy developers and companies pay to fix the cladding crisis.

Rydon suffered a £2.5m loss last year due to disruption caused by the COVID-19 pandemic. The contracting and development company said the pandemic delayed project starts and caused output levels on site to fall. Housing sales also slowed as it took longer for mortgages to be approved.
