Attorneys involved in class action settlement with the City of San Diego held an informational session at Mission Bay Park.

Mayor Todd Gloria announced a plan Thursday to create San Diego's largest long-term shelter for people experiencing homelessness, with capacity for more than 1,000 people.

The facility would double the size of existing shelter capacity in the city of San Diego.

San Diego settled in a class action lawsuit on the Vehicle Habitation Ordinance. The VHO will not be enforced if all four safe parking sites are full.

As long as people have nowhere else to go, and San Diego's Safe Parking Program is full, they can spend the night in their vehicle or RV on city streets.
