On 18-19 October, the FIA and 25 FIA Member Clubs participated in the 7th meeting of the Safer City Streets Network, the global traffic safety network for liveable cities. The event gathered more than 130 participants in Guadalajara, Mexico. City representatives, international organisations such as iRap, the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB), the World Resources Institute (WRI), the World Bank and the Global Alliance of NGOs for Road Safety discussed effective policies to improve road safety at the urban level. Twenty five FIA Member Clubs from Regions III and IV joined the global debate and interacted with city representatives and experts across the two-day event.
In an effort to further support FIA Member Clubs, FIA Foundation Programmes Manager Aggie Krasnolucka and FIA Mobility Grants Coordinator Anaïs Aite visited the Automobile Association of Philippines (AAP) facilities in Manila on 7-10 October in order to better understand the structure of the Club and the road safety needs in the country.
On 22-23 September, the 2022 FIA Region II Roundtable gathered FIA Members from Asia-Pacific at Hotel Metropole in Hanoi, Vietnam to address the mobility challenges and opportunities in the region. Co-hosted by FIA Members the Automobile Association of Vietnam (AA Vietnam) and AIP Foundation, the Roundtable brought together more than 60 Club Delegates from 19 countries around the theme ‘Reconnecting in Hanoi’.
On 21 September, national and local governments in Central Vietnam received two prestigious international road safety awards: the Prince Michael International Road Traffic Safety Award 2020 and the International Vision Zero for Youth Leadership Award 2022 for their work in Pleiku City, which now serves as a model for safe school zones nationwide.
