Freezing temperatures are gripping large parts of states like Kentucky, Tennessee and Arkansas, creating hazardous conditions for millions in a region not accustomed to freezing temperatures.

The extreme cold has been particularly rough for regions not used to prolonged periods of ice and wind chills, including Tennessee, Kentucky and Arkansas.

"Through our daytime services, we don't want to just cram everyone in. We want to engage with them," Melanie Ober, the community development director for Room in the Inn said.

A growing number of women and children in Nashville don't know where they are going to sleep at night. Because of this, the Nashville Rescue Mission just made room for more beds.
