Sacked workers of Obafemi Awolowo University Teaching Hospital (OAUTHC) protest against plan to examinations for their reengagement.

The protesters, who were calling for the suspension of the examination, blocked the main gates of the hospital.

The disengaged staff of the Obafemi Awolowo University Teaching Hospital, Ile-Ife, on Friday, protested at the hospital premises following the failure of the management to reverse the decision to lay them off.

Some policemen dispersed the protesting Obafemi Awolowo University Teaching Hospital, Ile-Ife, workers, on Tuesday, who were sacked over alleged job racketeering by the hospital management.

Oba Ogunwusi announced this while addressing angry youths who thronged to his palace in Ile-Ife on Monday.

"Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Ogunwusi has intervened in the lingering industrial crisis. He assured the aggrieved workers that he was working with relevant stakeholders, including the Federal Ministry of Health, among others, to resolve the crisis."

The hospital management noted that it was not insensitive to the protest and unrest occasioned by the mandate to implement the 2022 approved waiver. It, however, explained that it could not offer non-existent job positions.
